As this simple title shows, this book consists of simply beautiful pictures of many different kinds of ingredients. I love the simplicity in the title, pictures and structure of this book.

This book contains a magnificent collection of pictures and descriptions of vegetables, spices, fruit, teas, coffees and meats some particularly gross pictures. Anything I’m unsure of, such as what a sultana is a dried grape often used in British scone recipes or what Gruyere cheese should be used for, I can look up and see a beautiful photo and an explanation.

The reason I’m adding it to my list is because it’s such a wonderful reference, I can’t even wegle you.

I got it a few years ago from the discount shelves at Barnes and Noble, This is a large book of beautiful photographs of every possible ingredient for cooking that you could ever come across. I got it a few years ago from the discount shelves at Barnes and Noble, but last month I went online to buy a copy for Max who is in chef school and loves this book I discovered it’s now considered “rare” is rather expensive.
